Reigning AFLW best-and-fairest Madison Prespakis is heading to the tribunal on Wednesday after challenging the one-game ban offered to her for a dangerous tackle on Richmond’s Sarah Hosking.
Prespakis was charged after nailing former Carlton teammate Hosking in a tackle during the second quarter of the Blues’ five-point win over the Tigers last Saturday.
Hosking had to leave the field to undergo a concussion test after her head hit the turf but was later given the all-clear and returned to play.
On Monday the match review officer offered Prespakis a one-match ban with an early guilty plea after determining the incident as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.
The 20-year-old has however challenged the ban, with the matter heading to a tribunal hearing in Melbourne as she aims to avoid suspension and be given the all-clear for Saturday’s crunch clash with North Melbourne in Hobart.
