Honda has lifted the covers on its new-generation HR-V, but it will be some time before it makes it Australia.
Armed with hybrid power for the first time — at least, Europe — the second-gen HR-V (not counting the version from the late 1990s) will only go on sale in Europe late this year and won’t make it Down Under until 2022.
It’s a thoroughly more modern looking vehicle than its predecessor, with an integrated grille and long and low coupe-like profile enhanced by the “hidden” rear door handles.
The back end sees a light bar extend across the width of the car, connecting LED tail lights.
Inside is a new 9-inch infotainment system with sat-nav, WiFi and more, while Honda’s much loved Magic Seats remain to offer flexible cargo options.
Though hybrid power will be standard in Europe, Australia’s powertrains aren’t locked in.
Japan will get a 1.5-litre petrol engine, which could also be the case here.
