Ardea Resources has served up a series of impressive gold hits at Goongarrie, 70km north-west of Kalgoorlie, where it has tenements covering 65km of strike along the key regional gold structure, the Bardoc Tectonic Zone. Best results include 4m grading 3.22 grams per tonne gold at the Lily Albany prospect and 8m at 2.57 g/t gold at Zeus.

Ardea says it has defined multiple gold targets along the Bardoc Tectonic Zone, or “BTZ” where it is systematically targeting gold mineralisation at the same time as it advances its Kalgoorlie Nickel Project and the “sub-set” Goongarrie Hub. The company’s nickel-cobalt resource at KNP is 830 million tonnes grading 0.71 per cent nickel and 0.046 per cent cobalt for 5.9Mt of contained nickel and 384,000t of cobalt.

Ardea’s systematic KNP gold targeting under lake cover has been effective in discovering extensive orogenic gold mineralisation, commencing at Lily Albany.

The company’s strategy has also borne fruit with its recent discoveries at Zeus and Lady Charlotte. Drilling at the latter hit an impressive 12m at 5.2 g/t gold from 42m and 8m at 4.06 g/t gold from 54m.

Ardea says it has now identified targets along 20km of strike at Goongarrie.

A diamond drill hole at Lily Albany has intercepted several zones of mineralisation including 6.8m at 1.48 g/t gold with a richer 3.8m interval at 2.28 g/t gold from 51m. Another 9m intercept was returned at 1.53 g/t gold from 170m depth, including a richer interval of 3m at 3.79 g/t.

RC drilling at Lily Albany has extended the shallow oxidised gold mineralisation beneath cover. Hits include 4m at 3.22 g/t gold from 40m and 10m at 1.78 g/t gold from 108m.

The results add to previous shallow intercepts including 6m at 3.6 g/t gold from 44m and 8m at 4.94 g/t from 172m in the same hole.

Some 4km to the south at Zeus, 19 holes were drilled to follow-up on previous impressive results including 10m at 12.97g/t gold from 42m with a bumper grade 4m interval of 28.25 g/t gold from 44m.

The latest hits include 8m at 2.57g/t gold from just 2m and 2m at 1.83 g/t from 24m.

Other encouraging signs have emerged at the BD-X3 and BD-X4 targets along strike to the historical Goongarrie gold mining centre.

First-pass air-core drilling has returned 4m at 1.99 g/t gold from 36m and 4m at 4.21 g/t gold from 8m. Follow-up RC drilling is now planned.

Ardea has also identified gold anomalism at other nearby targets that require further evaluation.

Assays remain pending from one hole targeting historical high-grade workings at the Windanya prospect some 20km to the south.
