Bayern Munich’s French midfielder Corentin Tolisso and Hertha Berlin’s Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha have been fined after violating the safety measures against coronavirus to get tattoos.

“We’re grateful that games can currently take place in the Bundesliga despite the ongoing coronavirus situation,” said Bayern chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

“A condition of that is that players, coaches and staff must adhere to the DFL’s [German football league] hygiene concept in an exemplary manner.

“Corentin Tolisso has now contravened these guidelines, although our sporting and medical leadership continuously and clearly communicate them.

“We won’t tolerate violations like this. We will therefore hand Corentin Tolisso a heavy fine, which will be donated to charity.”

Hertha sporting director Arne Friedrich told the Bild newspaper that forward Cunha “has realised his mistake and will make a donation to a social institution.

“That settles the issue for us and we look ahead.”

While Cunha was part of Hertha’s starting line-up to face Frankfurt away, Tolisso is out of the Bayern squad that host Hoffenheim, also on Saturday, due to a muscular problem.
