England skipper Joe Root won the toss and decided to bat first against India in the third Test starting in Ahmedabad.
The visitors made four changes to their side for the day-night encounter, with record wicket-taker James Anderson resuming his long-term partnership with Stuart Broad.
Jofra Archer also reclaimed his place after an elbow injury, with the departed Moeen Ali and Olly Stone dropping out of the attack.
There were also two alterations to the top three, with Zak Crawley and Jonny Bairstow back, in place of Rory Burns and Dan Lawrence.
India made a couple of changes, with pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and spin all-rounder Washington Sundar replacing Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav.
