A fundraising concert with a difference will hit Margaret River’s Uniting Church later this month.

Classical performers the Orenda Trio are dusting off their instrument cases after a year’s disruption to touring caused by COVID-19, and will entertain residents with a selection of favourites on June 20.

Flautist Michael Howell told the Times the trio were in fine form.

He said they had been playing in Perth more than usual, including his own recent stint with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.

The trio, which ialso ncludes viola player Alix Hamilton and pianist Adam Pinto, will present two works by Spanish composers Joaquim Malats (1872-1912) and Enrique Granados (1867-1916).

Funds raised from the concert will go to the Margaret River Community Centre.

Organiser Ross Goulden, who has also brought classical performers to the Margaret River Heart, said the trio were looking forward to performing at the Uniting Church.

“(It’s) an ideal venue for a small ensemble, and a meet and greet session with the audience after the show,” he said.

“Margaret River is traditionally a popular place for concerts, note Leeuwin and Vasse Felix, but having one in town at this venue will be particularly valuable, and at a very moderate cost to people, in boosting the town’s reputation as a desirable place to live or visit.”

Tickets are $30 each.
