A police officer is accused of sending text messages revealing personal information about former AFL coach Dani Laidley after her arrest in Melbourne last year.

David Hall, 29, is charged with twice disclosing police information without authorisation over the leak of information last May.

The police member is one of four charged in December after an internal Victoria Police investigation. Another 39 officers and public servants were revealed to be facing internal disciplinary action.

Court documents allege Hall sent three text messages to two different people, revealing Ms Laidley had been remanded into custody and charged with a number of serious offences, that she was found in possession of drugs, and revealing that she was now identifying as a woman.

Hall’s case was due to be heard in Ringwood Magistrates Court on Friday, but lawyers requested it be adjourned until June 4.

Ms Laidley avoided conviction on all charges, including drug possession, after police recommended her to the court’s diversion program for first-time and low-level offenders.

She was required to write a letter of thanks to police for the recommendation as one of the conditions.
