We are spilling the tea — there’s a new way to get a vitamin hit in 2021.
One of this year’s food trends is loaded tea, a healthy alternative to the popular yet sugar-laden bubble tea found around Perth.
At its official launch this week, Sip Banksia Grove sold more than 1000 cups of the refreshing beverage, which all contain a shot of purified cold-pressed aloe vera and vitamins B1, 2, 5 and 12.
Co-owner Sophie Deric said the vibrant iced teas offer a natural energy boost and promote gut health.
“We like to call it smart fast food,” she said.
“Our teas are sugar-free, nutrient and vitamin dense…naturally coloured, flavoured, gluten-free and vegan-friendly.
“It’s a fairly new concept, but from the feedback we have received already, we know it’s going to take off.”
Deric added the teas, which have a black or green leaf base, could be made without caffeine to cater for children.
Already pictures of the Sip cups have flooded social media, and the owners said making the products “Insta-worthy” was a key strategy for the new business.
Other food trends expected to surge in 2021 include pistachio milk, chilled red wine and a wrap hack made famous by TikTok.
