The winners of the Mt Barker Creative Doors Celebration have been announced after the streets came alive with colour over the summer.

More than 100 painted doors were spread across town in a project spearheaded by artist George Corke and Mt Barker police officer-in-charge Sgt David Johnson.

With almost 1500 public votes submitted over the six weeks, the results were announced on Tuesday, with four people taking out the top spots.

Overall most popular door went to Andy Dolphin with his realistic mural depicting a serene bushland landscape.

The paint category winner was Nicholas Krakouer for his Black Lives Matter design, while the other mediums category winner was Sue Corke with her intricate design.

Bindi and Melanie’s Year 1 class took out the youth category with their cheery mural.

The inaugural mini-mural festival was the community’s opportunity to open a doorway into participating artists’ imaginations by designing their own doors.

The doors were supplied by community members and Homeswest.
