Third seed Naomi Osaka has ended the fairytale Australian Open run of Taiwan’s Hsieh Su-Wei with a 6-2 6-2 quarter-final demolition job at Melbourne Park.
Osaka, the pre-tournament favourite and 2019 Open champion, needed only 66 minutes on Tuesday to see off the challenge of Hsieh, who was playing in her first grand slam quarter-final at the age of 35.
The Japanese superstar will play either 23-time major winner Serena Williams or No.2 seed Simona Halep in a blockbuster semi-final on Thursday.
