Perth drag sensation Scarlet Adams looks to be joining the Aussie spin-off of the highly-anticipated RuPaul’s Drag Race.
The well-known drag queen, costume designer and self-described “party girl”, often spotted teetering in stilettos at venues The Court Hotel and Connections Nightclub, most recently performed with German performance artist Bernie Dieter in hit cabaret show Berlin Underground.
But Adams looks to be stepping up her dance card — according to reality-TV obsessed podcast So Dramatic — along with ACT act Toni Kola, the artists all but confirmed to join the production of RuPaul’s Drag Race Australia, following the show’s official announcement last week.
“There are nine Australian drag queens and there are going to be three New Zealand queens,” former Big Brother winner Ben Morris told podcast host Megan Pustetto.
While RuPaul Charles was widely panned for not hosting the Canadian and Netherlands spin-offs, the iconic host will appear in the Australian series, which is now being filmed in New Zealand after a last-minute switch across the ditch due to Sydney’s most recent COVID-19 outbreak.
Coincidentally, RuPaul’s husband Georges LeBar is from Perth.
Joining RuPaul will be US TV personality and Drag Race regular Michelle Visage on the judging panel, with others to be announced later this year, which could include comedian Rhys Nicholson.
Also rumoured to be battling it out to become the next drag superstar are Sydney’s Coco Jumbo and Felicia Foxx and Melbourne’s Karen from Finance.
The show will air on Stan later this year.
