A severe weather warning will remain in place for Perth today, with thunderstorms and heavy rain to continue throughout the day.

Heavy showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds lashed the State last night, with Bunbury, Mandurah and Perth hit the hardest.

Conditions are expected to ease this afternoon, although shower and thunderstorm activity is likely to continue during the remainder of Saturday.

The temperature is expected to reach a maximum of 21C.

The weather is the result of a cold front is moving over the western and southern parts of the State.

Showers are expected to continue on Sunday.
