Queensland Police on Tuesday night turned to the public to help them locate the owner of a sea kayak seemingly abandoned at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast.

The uncrewed vessel was found at Tallebudgera Creek and reported to police around 6.40pm, with witnesses saying they had seen at least one person on deck earlier in the day.

The kayak appeared to be a yellow and white Delphia model with an outrigger and a red, yellow and blue sail.

Police on Wednesday said they were still trying to locate the owner of the boat, but a spokeswoman said their concern was lessening as no one had been reported missing.

The spokeswoman said the boat had been secured on the shore. There was no identification on the vessel.

Anyone with information on the vessel or its occupant is urged to contact police.
