Wagin 1 travelled to the impressive Pingelly courts for a cracking clash with Pingelly 1 in round four of the Narrogin and Districts Netball Association on Saturday.
Those who went were not disappointed as Wagin prevailed in a thriller by one goal, handing the reigning premiers their first loss of the season.
Despite Wagin coming off a hefty defeat mid-week by Flames, it was clear from the first few minutes of the game they were not there to lose again.
Pingelly took the first centre pass but by the time it reached their goal circle Wagin had turned the ball over and scored.
Wagin continued to fire and were up by five goals at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Alex Hodges took to the court and added plenty of strength and consistency to the Pingelly team.
The teams went goal for goal throughout the second term and the Wagin shooters, Courtney Webb and Jaelyn Ranieri, had their eye in and barely missed to keep their side ahead 27-23 at half-time.
Pingelly took control in the first five minutes of the third stanza with some fresh legs as Leanne Watts was moved into goal attack.
Heading into the final change, Pingelly had taken a one-goal lead after winning the quarter by six goals with a strong display all across the court.
Wagin reverted to their first-quarter positions, and Felice Pocock, barely putting a foot wrong for the entire game, led the team in a fantastic final term.
The lead changed several times with Pingelly getting the upper hand with a few minutes left, however Faith McNab and Webb took two crucial intercepts and Wagin did not let go.
Wagin regained the lead and prevailed in a thrilling contest, 53-52.
Pingelly have been a formidable force in the NDNA since they joined, always proving challenging.
This game was efficient, controlled and exceptionally skilled.
Pocock and Webb were named among the best players for Wagin, while Rheannon Turton was the best for Pingelly.
In the other A1 fixtures Flames 1 defeated Williams 1, 50-40, while Cuballing 1 beat Wickepin 1 46-32.
